On 13th August 2016 a party from the Civic Trust enjoyed a walk around Lawnswood Cemetery which was led by Ann Lightman. 

She introduced them to the history of the cemetery and visited the memorials to some of those who turned Leeds into a great city. They were surprised by the range of monuments to be found in the older sections and were very interested in all aspects of the cemetery. It was a most enjoyable afternoon!

The Friends of Lawnswood Cemetery’s 2016 annual member’s tea-party took place on 30th July 2016.

It was a jolly occasion. The committee had provided a superb afternoon tea – sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and cakes.Each table had a flower quiz which soon had the guests working together to complete (incidentally whin is also another name for gorse!!) with the winning table being awarded a prize per person.
