It is with great sadness that we are informing our supporters that Kate Vernon has passed away. Kate was a founder member of the Friends of Lawnswood Cemetery and spent many hours supporting our work: as a committee member, the membership secretary and editor of the newsletter, as well as monitoring and responding to our email account on a daily basis. She was a driving force behind everything we have achieved. Kate loved nothing more than being in the cemetery taking photographs, helping families to find the graves of ancestors and loved ones, and researching the fascinating stories behind people buried there. She loved Lawnswood Cemetery, was committed to the work of The Friends and will be simply irreplaceable to us. Our thoughts are with her husband John and their family and she will be deeply missed.
